Short version: the calculators work without any cookies. We count page views anonymously without storing anything on your device. The only cookies FireWise can set belong to our analytics (PostHog), and they are set only after you choose "Accept analytics" in the cookie banner. How we handle personal data more broadly is described in the Privacy Policy.
You can reopen the consent banner at any time and switch between "Accept analytics" and "Essential only". Choosing "Essential only" stops all analytics from the next page load — including the anonymous counting described in section 3 — and is how you object to it. Cookies already set can be removed by clearing site data in your browser.
The FireWise local-storage items never leave your device and are not used for tracking.
We use PostHog, hosted in the EU, and it runs at one of two levels depending on your choice.
Before you choose, and only if you have not chosen "Essential only": anonymous audience measurement. We count which pages are viewed and where visits come from. No cookie is set, nothing is written to your device's storage, and there is no identifier to read on a later visit — visitor numbers are worked out from a daily-rotating one-way hash that PostHog's servers compute and that cannot be turned back into an IP address. Your IP address is used only to compute that hash — it is not turned into location data, and no country or city is recorded. Nothing else is collected at this level: no clicks, no interactions, no error reports. This is the same kind of counting our web server does in its logs, and it relies on our legitimate interest in knowing which pages are worth writing (see the Privacy Policy).
After you choose "Accept analytics": the fuller picture. Pages viewed, clicks and interactions with the calculators, technical error reports, and session recordings if we have them switched on. The identifier stored then is random — it is not linked to a name, email or account (we have none), and we do not use it to identify individual visitors or to show advertising.
At both levels, the values you type into calculators are never sent. Where session recordings are made, form inputs are masked before the recording leaves your browser.
The site's typefaces are self-hosted — served from our own servers alongside the rest of the page. Your browser makes no third-party request to load them, so no font provider receives your IP address, and no cookies are set.
You can delete site data for this site in your browser settings at any time; the calculators simply start fresh and the consent banner will ask again.
